Ingredients

  • 1 lb gnocchi or 8 oz rice noodles
  • 3 tbsp gochujang or substitute
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sugar or honey
  • 1 tsp minced garlic
  • 1.5 cups water or broth
  • 2 cups cabbage sliced
  • 2 green onions chopped
  • 1 cup fish cakes optional
  • 1 boiled egg per serving optional

Instructions

  • Boil gnocchi or rice noodles, drain, and set aside.
  • In a pan, combine gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, garlic, and water. Simmer 5 mins.
  • Add gnocchi/noodles, cabbage, and fish cakes. Cook 5–7 mins until sauce thickens.
  • Garnish with green onions and boiled egg. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Gochujang Substitute: If unavailable, use 2 tbsp red pepper flakes + 1 tbsp soy sauce + 1 tsp sugar.
  • Gluten-Free Tip: Use tamari instead of soy sauce and rice noodles instead of gnocchi.
  • Spice Control: Add 1 tbsp peanut butter or coconut milk to tone down the heat without losing depth.
  • Protein Boost: Add tofu, shrimp, or shredded chicken for a more filling meal.
  • Leftovers: Tastes even better the next day! Reheat with a splash of water to loosen the sauce.
